Frequently Asked Questions
What is Sycamore Chase Fitness Group?
It's organised outdoor fitness sessions for residents of Sycamore Chase. We offer a mix of running, walking and circuit training.
Who is it run by?
Gray and Amy Hill (at number 1) with help from Gareth Sutton (number 35). Gray and Amy are UK Athletics qualified 'Leaders in Running Fitness' and have run the Cardiff-based running club 'Canton Chargers' for the last six years. Gareth is an RAF Soldier with experience of circuit training.
How much running will there be?
Our first sessions will offer a mix of running, walking and circuits. We'll be running for around 20 minutes total though beginner runners will be guided with a mix of walking and running.
I'm not very fast. Does that matter?
Not at all. The sessions are designed to be accessible to all levels.
But what if I'm last? I don't want to hold everyone up!
Don't worry! Everyone can go at their own pace and you won't hold anyone up.
I'm already a pretty good runner. Will the sessions work for me?
Yes. You'll be able to go at your own pace too. Plus, your experience could help others!
What about COVID rules?
We've been running our Canton Chargers sessions in Cardiff after each lockdown. We've adapted everything to ensure the sessions are compliant will all Welsh Government guidelines and most importantly, are 100% safe.
Can children join in too?
16+ can come unaccompanied. If they're under 16, they'll need to be accompanied at all times. The sessions should be fine for children 10 years and older.
What I need to bring with me?
Just trainers that fit well, weather appropriate clothing suitable for exercise and perhaps a water bottle.
